Starkville and Softball: Team HELiX!

Summer is a great time to get together with friends for some outdoor sports fun, and student living in Starkville means there’s no shortage of activities to choose from. One of our favorites is Starkville Parks and Recreation’s (SPRD) annual adult Summer Softball League, where lovers of the game – or even those who just love socializing – can get together and compete with fellow area teams to take home trophies, prizes, and bragging rights.

The Softball League has a Men’s A, B, or C division and a Women’s division, with games typically scheduled MondayThursday between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. at McKee Park. The season’s first games kick off the week of June 6th, and run through the end of summer, when qualifying teams compete in tournament play to vie for the championship. Each team can choose a coach and must provide their own numbered team jerseys, bats, and gloves, while the SPRD provides the regulation softballs.

Why not get together with your HELiX friends and create some fun-filled memories? We even brainstormed a few possible names for your new team: The HELiX Hustlers or The Braincandy BattersContact us today to see about “stealing” some bases under these names, or simply create your own! The fee to register a team is $400, or about $40 per person, and the registration deadline is May 13th at 5pm. You can download the 2016 Registration Packet here, or stop by the Travis Outlaw Center at McKee Park, 405 Lynn Lane, to pick one up. Feel free to contact William Pochop at wpochop@starkvilleparks.com or 662-323-2294 if you have any additional questions. Batter up!
