Student Living in Starkville means enjoying a bit o’ the green for St. Patrick’s Day, and these three area events are sure to get you into the spirit of the holiday!
St. Patty’s Day 5K
This run/walk is sponsored by the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine, and helps fund scholarships for their vet camp that is held each year for youth aged 13-17 who are interested in a career in the field. The race begins at 5:30pm on Sunday March 20th at the Sanderson Center, 225 Coliseum Blvd. All participants receive a free t-shirt and winners in each age group are awarded prizes. The fee for the race is $30 and you can pre-register here, or at the event on race day starting at 4pm.
St. Patrick’s Day Throwdown
Cowbells Sports Grill is hosting a fun-filled night on March 17th, with music by DJ Glotron to keep things lively, green beer, and Penny Pitchers for those lucky enough to get there early. Enjoy finger foods like the BBQ Nachos and Belly Bustin’ Fries, unique sandwiches, and Cowbell’s signature ribeye steaks while you celebrate. You can head on over to 1545 St. Andrew’s Lane starting at 5pm to enjoy all the festivities.
St. Patrick’s Day at Applebees
If you want a relaxing time with your friends, Applebees “wear green, save green” means enjoying half price appetizers from 3pm until close and drink specials all day long on March 17th. With an extensive menu that includes Irish favorites like hand-battered fish and chips, you’ll find plenty to keep your taste buds merry! Come on out to 814 Highway 12 West from 10:30am-1am to live it up, laid-back style.
Everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, and Starkville has plenty of fun ways to celebrate whether you’re Irish or just Irish for the day. Head on out to one of these “merry” events, and don’t forget to wear your green!
