Making friends, becoming involved in the community, and staying healthy are great ways to make the most of student living in Starkville. We have the scoop on an upcoming event that will help you do all of those things–the 2017 Starkville Frostbite Half Marathon. The Frostbite race is an annual event that draws quite a crowd from Starkville and neighboring towns. This Chick-Fil-A sponsored event has been a hit for 31 years, and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever!
The Frostbite begins on Main Street and covers some of the most well-known areas of Starkville–the Cotton District, MSU campus, and the Historic District. In an effort to include runners of all experience levels, the Frostbite also offers both a 10K and a 5K. Runners have even more to look forward to from this year’s Frostbite, including custom medals and awesome race swag. Proceeds from this year’s event will go to benefit the Starkville Police Department. Not much of a runner? You can still be involved in this fantastic community event by volunteering your time. The race cannot function without considerable help from volunteers, and there are many ways in which you can help out–help runners prepare for the race at the welcome and registration tables, offer encouraging support at the water stations, or be up close and personal with all the excitement at the finish line.
The Frostbite takes place on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 9:00 am. Register early for a discounted rate (only $55.00 until November 30). This is an exciting community event that helps raise funds for deserving organizations each year and its a great opportunity to meet new people and have a lot of fun. Please feel free to contact us to learn more about this upcoming event.
