Living in the Helix Starkville apartment community means plenty of opportunities to combine a good time with giving back and this July 12th you’ll get the chance to do just that. The Oktibbeha County Humane Society (OCHS) will be throwing its 2nd annual “Celebrity Wait Night” to raise funds for animal welfare and education. This year, Harvey’s Restaurant will play host to the fun event that helps the society rescue, feed, and shelter dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, and other small animals.
The fun-filled festivities will include a silent auction, t-shirts for sale, a delicious dinner served by a celebrity waiter, and the chance to visit with one of the dogs that the shelter now cares for. And the best part is that 100% of your tips will be donated to the humane society!
Last year’s event raised $6,400 and OCHS is hoping to break that record. The funds raised at the event will be used to offset the cost of the various programs the shelter offers that benefit the community, including the low-cost spay and neuter clinic, dog licensing applications and processing, and animal transport through Homeward Bound Mississippi and other rescue organizations. In addition, the donations help the shelter promote the adoption program, purchase shelter supplies, and pay for the building’s overhead costs.
If you want to help out a great cause while having a fun night out, you can head on over to Harvey’s, located in the Southdale Shopping Center at 406 Hwy 12 East, between 5:30-8:30. Who knows, you might just meet a local star – or even your next four-legged best friend!
