It is not every town that has its own Biscuit Shop, even in the South. Starkville does, however, and it is an excellent emporium! Fresh biscuits are made by the biscuit lady, Michelle Tehan, using her grandmother’s recipe. The shop is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or whenever the biscuits are sold out). There are buttermilk biscuits, maple-bacon biscuits, cheddar biscuits, and there are even carrot cake and pecan pie biscuits. The types of biscuits are endless; be sure to check the web site for the specials for each day. You will be in Biscuit Heaven.
Denny’s is a venerable chain, but if you want the breakfast standards—eggs, pancakes, waffles, hash brown—they have them, plus a bottomless cup of coffee. If you need to carbo load, try chocolate chip pancakes – they are delicious.
